Oliver Bonas’ personalized Exponea campaigns soar

It’s been quite the first seven months with Exponea for independent British lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas.

With 80 brick-and-mortar stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland and an e-commerce shop for customers all over the world, Oliver Bonas is intent on designing its own take on fashion and homeware.

The company became an Exponea client in July 2020 with the goal of getting a single customer view of consumers and creating more personalised communications.

Oliver Bonas worked feverishly to integrate Exponea’s Customer Data and Experience Platform before the key Q4 period and quickly began achieving its goals of sending more personalized communication to customers and increasing key metrics. 

Two successful campaigns

The new marketing automation strategies have led to significant increases in revenue and conversions. The numbers speak for themselves:

  • Campaign email click-through rate by 97% in the United Kingdom

But how? Oliver Bonas incorporated brand new designs and email flows for different sign up locations with tailored logic. They also used personalization for a variety of different customer segments, including offering £5 towards a customer’s next purchase for creating an online account.

Oliver Bonas created new emails that were personalized to each customer segment, additional marketing to opted-in segments, a reminder email, and featured products that were left in each individual shopper’s abandoned cart. A great strategy for retargeting customers and increasing conversion.

Quite the uplift seen thanks to Oliver Bonas’ creative usage of the CDXP platform that is designed to deliver connected customer experiences all with a single solution.

A new email preference center

But that isn’t all Oliver Bonas accomplished in its first seven months with Exponea. It launched an email preference center to best connect with customers when the time was right for them and ensure that emails would have the most impact possible.

Since implementation, 512 subscribers are currently taking a short break from receiving emails, 3.6k more chose to receive the monthly emails only, and an additional 284 opted to receive weekly emails. These choices were all made in lieu of unsubscribing to all communications from the company.

The email preference center has allowed Oliver Bonas to increase customer lifetime value by allowing consumers to receive communications on a more personalised schedule.

“Our new email preference center gives subscribers looking to unsubscribe alternative options to customize their email frequency and increases our retention,” said Sinead O’Callaghan, Retention Executive for Oliver Bonas. “We’ve already seen a big uptake for these options.”
