Gearing up for the Holiday Season

Oct 24, 2017 David Miller 2 min read

For e-shops, it is now time to make sure that all of the necessary tools are in place for the holiday season. There are plenty of areas which can be optimized, especially in how an online business carries out its marketing strategy.
We all know Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas and New Year’s Eve as a few examples of when to ramp up your company’s online marketing. It is important to note that there are several other holidays to profit from. What about notifying your customers of Button Day on November 16th? A perfect time to create a fun marketing plan to push buttoned-up shirts and button fly jeans. National Hugging Day on January 21st? Dress well on National Hugging Day to increase chances of incredible hugs. There are several opportunities to drive sales through awareness.
In addition to recognizing more days for marketing and boosting sales, here are some tips that will surely help increase profits.

    1. Many customers research deals before it’s time to buy.

It’s an important aspect of the shoppers’ strategy.  They know days, if not weeks in advance, where, what and when. The eshop can benefit by offering discounts and announcements about the upcoming deals through Exponea’s notifications, countdown banners, etc.

    1. Plan the strategy ahead of time.

Beginning a profitable plan the day before, or even the week before, is just not good enough. Create an active plan of attack for optimizing profitability.  Segmenting customers is always critical in assuring that your marketing messages will be reaching their targets. Exponea makes sure that the messages are hitting the right target at the right time. Customers will come if they are looking forward to useful purchases at discounted prices on your site. You’ve made sure of that.

    1. First time visitors should be rewarded.

Visitors who come to your site for the first time and get a discount are likely to visit your site again. A banner displaying an additional 20% discount on selected items that may not have already been reduced, just for opening your site for the first visit can have a real impact. This works great in developing loyalty and will keep that shopper coming back for more. This is also a great strategy for selling off backstock.

    1. Make sure your company can handle the extra traffic.

From bringing in extra people to fulfilling orders to handling a barrage of emails, make sure that the company is ready to serve the customers. It only takes one bad experience to lose a customer. After such a busy season companies should collect very useful data which will help them in navigating future recommendations to their shoppers. The happy shoppers will keep coming back, especially if you continue offering them items that are obviously interesting to them.
There are plenty of reasons to be ecstatic during the major shopping days, rather than fearful. The most important trick is to make sure that you are using all the advanced tools available to you during these events. Time to sync your marketing strategy to days when sales can reach new heights. Exponea looks forward to helping you optimize your sales potential this holiday season.
